Montague & Seymour account book, 1815-1835.

Account book of the shipping company Montague & Seymour. The book seems to have been predominately used by the Montague family. Includes records of items consigned to the Sloop Spartan for several voyages. By 1820, most of the entries are accounts of family members. These include Richard Montague, his wife Olive (Nott) Montague, son Moses Montague, Moses' wife Eunice (Harris) Montague, Moses and Eunice's sons Gurdon Harris Montague and William Montague, and Horace Wells, husband of Moses and Eunice's daughter Eunice. The Montague family lived in Wethersfield, Connecticut. The Sloop Spartan was built in Wethersfield in 1815 and kept at Hartford and Wethersfield. It was registered between 1815 and 1824. In 1817 the rig was altered to Schooner.
